Seeing the INVISIBLE
BRAVE Mini-Series: Book 4
“But you look just fine?!” is a response I often get when people cannot see why I do things a little differently following my concussion. With no visible markers or obvious cues, misconceptions and assumptions get made by others of my abilities and tolerance levels. Concussions are referred to as invisible injuries, as the symptoms are not visible to anyone: rather can only be felt, experienced and understood.
BRAVE is all about the small acts of courage needed to carry on and move forward. To me, being brave is acknowledging all that I am unable to see as important and valid - taking special care and respect of my symptoms, even if no-one else can see them.
