On Display at the Gardiner Museum’s annual 12 Trees exhibition until January 7, 2018!
This year’s 12 Trees exhibition focuses on light as a potent symbol of hope that many cultures share. Created in collaboration with Director and Cinematographer Amit Kehar, The Light in the Shadows in an installation that focuses on the light within the shadows.
In times of darkness when we are feeling lost or helpless there is a desire to look for the light, something to guide our way through uncertainty, hardship, and/or despair. There will always be times when we find ourselves in the shadows with nothing external to turn to, nothing that we are able to grab hold of, to direct, to light and illuminate our path out of the darkness. Rather than seek a way out – it is precisely in these times, when we are in the shadows, that we must open our eyes and our hearts to the magnificence that surrounds us within these shadows. Every shadow is shaped by light. Even in the darkest of times light is always with us. Let the shadows serve as a reminder and reassurance of sorts that the light (hope, answers, direction) we are looking for can be found within us. That shadows can be beautiful, sparkle and show us the unexpected.
